The Keyboard FPC Cable Connector is the 30-pin ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket soldered directly onto the MacBook Pro logic board that receives the keyboard's flexible ribbon cable. This tiny but critical component is the sole electrical interface between the keyboard assembly and the logic board — if it is cracked, lifted, corroded, or damaged, the keyboard will become partially or completely unresponsive.
Connector damage most commonly occurs during keyboard replacement or topcase swaps when the ZIF locking tab is broken, or following liquid damage where corrosion attacks the fine-pitch solder joints beneath the connector. This replacement connector is surface-mounted to the logic board using a hot air rework station or soldering iron with appropriate flux — a standard component-level repair for trained MacBook board repair technicians.
- 30-pin ZIF socket — exact replacement for the keyboard FPC connector on the logic board
- Compatible with A2289, A2251, A2338 (2020) and A2141, A2337 as noted above
- Resolves keyboard not detected, partial key failure, and no keyboard response
- SMD component — requires micro-soldering for installation
- Each connector inspected and verified prior to shipping
Keyboard Not Detected MacBook fails to detect keyboard entirely — "No keyboard found" in System Information
Partial Key Failure Specific rows or groups of keys unresponsive while others work normally
Liquid Damage Corrosion Connector corroded after liquid ingress — restores keyboard connectivity after board cleaning
ZIF Tab Broken During Repair Locking tab snapped during keyboard cable removal — connector must be replaced
Lifted / Torn Connector Pads Connector lifted from board during prior repair — pad restoration and new connector required
Post-Topcase Swap Issues Keyboard unresponsive after topcase or keyboard replacement — damaged connector
Exact 30-Pin Specification Correct pin count and pitch for the A2289, A2251 and A2338 keyboard cable — guaranteed fit
Pre-Inspected Each connector checked for pin alignment and structural integrity before dispatch
Broad 2020 MacBook Compatibility Covers all three MacBook Pro 13" 2020 variants — Intel 2-port, Intel 4-port, and Apple M1
Cost-Effective Board Repair Component-level fix — far more economical than a full logic board replacement
This part is intended for qualified repair technicians. If you are not experienced with SMD micro-soldering, we strongly recommend having this installed by a professional MacBook board repair specialist. Consult the relevant logic board schematic and boardview before attempting installation.
